The Buffalo Bills are cutting down their roster ahead of their Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. And while Buffalo is trimming the fat on their roster, they could also be eyeing a potential trade for a difference-maker at receiver.
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade.
"Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers recently met with team brass and requested to be traded, per me and Tom Pelissero," Ian Rapoport reports on X. "The team, citing his value, said they had no plans to do so. Meyers and the team attempted to negotiate a new contract, but could not come to terms."
Should the Raiders be willing to move off Meyers, the Bills should be making the call. In terms of who/what they can send in return, Buffalo should offer Curtis Samuel and defensive tackle DeWayne Carter. On top of that, a late-round pick swap could be added to the deal.
Buffalo is all but certainly releasing both of these players anyway. Samuel has been a disappointment since signing last offseason, and Buffalo just signed Jordan Phillips, which doesn't bode well for Carter.
Meyers had 87 catches for over 1,000 yards in 2024 with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew as his quarterbacks - imagine what he could do with Josh Allen. If it can be done, the Bills should pull the trigger.
