The Buffalo Bills have been bitten hard by the injury bug through the first two weeks of training camp. Several stars have dealt with some form of injury or another. Cornerback Max Hairston suffered a scary leg injury that was feared to be an ACL tear, but he is expected to be ready by Week 1 after it was revealed the ACL was still in tact. However, it's a player on the other side of the ball that has people worried.
Wide receiver Khalil Shakir was rolled up on during the team's stadium practice. On Sunday, head coach Sean McDermott revealed that Shakir is dealing with a high ankle sprain and is 'week-to-week."
“He’s dealt with one before," McDermott said via Matt Parrino. "It’s gonna take some time - high ankles usually do. It’s an opportunity for somebody else.”
This could put Shakir's Week 1 status against the Baltimore Ravens in jeopardy, and we saw exactly how the Bills' offense looked last year when he was out of the lineup. Buffalo will be rightfully cautious with the star slot receiver, and we'll see in due time if he suits up Week 1.
