Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane made headlines on Monday when he went on WGR in Buffalo and called out those who were critical of the Bills for not drafting a receiver with a premium pick. On Tuesday, Beane joined The Pat McAfee Show to explain his comments, likening the Bills' thought process to the New England Patriots' dynasty.
"Look at Tom Brady," Beane said. "Look at New England - how many great historic receivers did they have on their Super Bowl teams? But the Patriots, they were good up front, they had a good quarterback, they usually had some type of run game, whether it was Corey Dillon or [Kevin] Faulk... There's 100 different ways you can build [a good offense]. We're not against good receivers... But when you're paying Josh Allen what you're paying him, you've got to make some concessions somewhere else."
Beane reiterated that he understood why people were critical last season after the Bills parted ways with Stefon Diggs, but they showed they could score without him.
"We just showed we could score 30 points a game for eight straight game, we averaged over 30 points, we scored the most points of anyone last season if you include the playoffs."
While many fans would like to see a flashy move at receiver, it doesn't look like Buffalo will be making one soon.
