The Buffalo Bills were able to add a proven wide receiver to their roster weeks after the trade deadline by signing former New Orleans Saints wideout Brandin Cooks. Cooks and the Saints mutually agreed to part ways after his name was rumored to be on the move last month before the deadline, but nothing came to be. After a lack of usage, the Saints released him, which led to the Bills signing him as a free agent.

Cooks got snaps in his first game with the Bills this past Sunday against the Steelers, catching a pass on his first play as a Bill. And while one catch for 13 yards won't blow anyone away, the veteran wideout does appear to be impressing his teammates behind the scenes.

“He's awesome," Bills receiver Khalil Shakir said via Alex Brasky of Sports Illustrated. "His vibe is amazing. He's just a fast, quick, twitchy receiver. And I think just everything that he does — he’s one of those guys, I've said in the past before, where you get certain guys that they go out there and play, and you just want to watch them and see what they do.”

Considering the continued injury troubles surrounding Josh Palmer, perhaps Cooks can step in and be the deep threat Buffalo was hoping Palmer would be. Facing a Cincinnati Bengals defense that can be taken advantage of over the top provides an opportunity for Cooks to make a splash play that keeps him as a focal point in the lineup.
