The Buffalo Bills have already spent the whole season without their first-string kicker, Tyler Bass, due to injury.

They may have to open the playoffs without their replacement, Matt Prater.

Prater re-injured his right quad during the Bills' Week 18 win over the New York Jets.

On Tuesday, the Bills signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad, according to the league's official transaction wire.

Prater was called day-to-day by head coach Sean McDermott. The Bills play Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. Their first official practice injury report will come out Wednesday.

Wright is a 29-year old who played his college football at UCF.

He has kicked in 33 NFL games overall, including four this season.

Wright has suited up for the Steelers, Chiefs, Titans, Jaguars, Texans, Panthers, 49ers and Commanders.

In his career, he is 60-for-68 on field goals, 88.2%. He has made 7-for-11 from 50-plus, including a career-long of 59 yards.

He is also 45-for-47 in his career on extra points.

The Bills had already tried Michael Badgley for two weeks when Prater was originally injured, and now they'll take a shot that Wright can be better.

Wright kicked in 14 games for the Jaguars in 2021 and will now return to Jacksonville for this playoff game. He was 21-for-24 on field goals for the Jags.
