The Buffalo Bills aren't resting on their laurels.

Just days before they open the regular season on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills have reunited with old friend Gabe Davis.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that the Bills are signing Davis to begin on their practice squad, where he'll continue his recovery from a torn meniscus to try and get back on the field.

Davis was a fan favorite in Buffalo, in large part thanks to a four-TD game in the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs that helped earn him the nickname Big Game Gabe.

The talented wideout left Buffalo after playing his first four seasons NFL seasons in western New York. He had a rough 2024 campaign with the Jaguars. He played in only 10 games due to injury, and in those contests, he totaled just 20 catches.

In four seasons with the Bills, Davis had 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in the regular season.

Big Game Gabe caught at least one touchdown in three consecutive playoff games between 2022-23, including that eight catch, 201 yard, four TD bonanza against the Chiefs.

The Bills have a solid receiving corps right now. Khalil Shakir leads it out of the slot. Keon Coleman is entering his second season with a lot of promise. Offseason acquisitions Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore can both play. Veteran Curtis Samuel is back, and intriguing Tyrell Shavers made the 53-man roster, too.

Davis would have to heal up and perform well to break through in a meaningful way, but he's already got the strong connection with QB Josh Allen, which can only help.

There's certainly a chance at a big payoff for the Bills signing Davis, but even if he only has a smaller role, it's cool to get an old friend back in town.
