There's never been an NFL movie even approaching the concept of basketball's Space Jam.

But it's a fun idea nonetheless, with aliens called the Monstars coming to take over the planet unless we can beat them in a basketball game. How would that work for football?

Well, you couldn't leave anything to chance. There's too much at stake.

You'd have to start at the quarterback position. Who gives us the best chance at fending off the aliens?

"If you asked me to pick the best player in football if we were drafting a team to win one game, I'd probably take Allen given his cumulative work over the past few seasons," ESPN's Bill Barnwell wrote on Thursday

There's your answer. Give Allen the ball and let him do his thing.

Barnwell was writing about Allen in the context of this season's NFL MVP race. Allen is the reigning winner of that award.

This season, Allen likely won't quite be in the picture.

"Allen has been slightly more explosive, averaging what would be a career-best 8.2 yards per pass through the air, and he has played key roles in memorable comeback wins over the Bengals and Ravens (plus he outdueled Mahomes in yet another regular-season victory over the Chiefs)," Barnwell writes. "But in 2024, Allen was plenty explosive and avoided negative plays as well as any QB in any season in NFL history. It's tougher to make that case this season. However, if the Bills launch a late comeback to win the division through Allen, we can never rule the 29-year-old out of the race."

Allen has made it clear that MVP doesn't matter to him. He just wants to win a Super Bowl and get the Lombardi Trophy.

But if our planet depended on him, Allen might be the guy to call on, too.
