Whenever the Buffalo Bills' 2025 season ends, there is one very clear priority the team has going into the offseason.

That priority is beefing up the wide receivers room, which was woefully disappointing during the 2025 campaign.

Despite a ton of offseason hype, Keon Coleman failed to take that next step in his career. In fact, he actually took a step back.

Buffalo's big free-agent signing at wide receiver, Joshua Palmer, did not pan out, as not only was he plagued by injury, Palmer wasn't effective when on the field, either.

With surrounding Josh Allen with more talent at wide receiver being a top priority, Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut predicts the Bills will sign Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce in free agency.

It is time for Buffalo Bills’ general manager Brandon Beane to bring in impact-level receiving help for Josh Allen. Alec Pierce is coming off his first 1,000-yard season and led the NFL in yards per reception (21.3) over that span. He is an outstanding deep threat, as evidenced by his 25 deep targets, which came with one of the lowest catchable target rates (58.3 percent) in the NFL. While it will cost more than $20 million per year to sign him, Pierce will be only 26 years old next season. Signing Pierce will unlock the best version of the Bills’ passing game, finally providing a complement to pair with a great rushing attack.

Pierce enters free agency coming off his best season as pro.

The former second-round pick posted 47 catches for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, with the receptions and yardage marks being personal bests.

He also showed his elite deep-ball prowess once again by leading the NFL in yards per reception. Pierce totaled 22.3 yards per catch in 2024, and then 21.3 in 2025.

Adding Pierce would give the Bills a much-needed outside threat who can stretch the field and add another element to Buffalo's offense while also taking some pressure off Buffalo's top wideout, Khalil Shakir.

One big problem for Buffalo is its salary cap situation, with the Bills slated to be $5.3 million over the cap in 2026.

That's going to make it hard to meet Pierce's contract demands, which Spotrac projects could be a four-year, $80.9 million deal.

The Bills are going to have plenty of competition for Pierce's services, including from the Colts, who are no doubt interested in bringing him back.

And the Colts and many other teams that will be interested in Pierce are going to have more funds to work with than the Bills, which leaves them in a bad spot to sign one of the most coveted free-agent wide receivers set to hit the market.
