Bills predicted to cut ties with Keon Coleman in offseason trade for wide receiver image

Whenever the Buffalo Bills' 2025 season ends, the team must make significant changes at wide receiver.

The Bills were relying on wide receiver Keon Coleman to take a big step forward in Year 2, but he instead took two steps back. Not only did Coleman not do much when on the field, but he was benched for multiple games during the season.

Buffalo also brought in veteran wideout Joshua Palmer in free agency, but he wasn't very available due to injuries, and even when he was on the field he was typically a zero.

With the Bills needing a shake-up at the position, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine predicts Buffalo will send Coleman and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for veteran wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this offseason.

"Both Aiyuk and Coleman could use a change of scenery. The Bills could use a high caliber receiver at a discounted price while the Niners need cheaper help in light of Brock Purdy's new contract extension," Ballentine said.

"This is a trade that helps the Bills keep up with the Patriots while still allowing the Niners to have another young receiver. Kyle Shanahan could have a good shot at helping Coleman get his career on the right track," he added.

A two-time 1,000-yard receiver, Aiyuk and the 49ers appear set to part ways this offseason after the veteran had his guarantees voided due to a rift with the team over his torn ACL rehab.

Since then, Aiyuk has posted a video to social media showing himself driving past the Niners' facility at 100-plus MPH, which adds even more to unpack to this strange situation.

Aiyuk's history says he would provide a significant upgrade over Coleman, but we can throw that out the window at this point after what has transpired since his injury.

That said, Coleman has been so bad that it would make sense for the Bills to send him packing to see what Aiyuk has left in the tank, although we don't love giving San Fran a fifth-rounder on top of Coleman.
