Enough is enough.

Once again, the Buffalo Bills' season ends with a heartbreaking loss in the postseason, but this time it didn't come to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Instead, it came against Bo Nix, who had never won a playoff game before Saturday, and the Denver Broncos, who hadn't won a playoff game as a franchise since the 2015 season.

The Bills have now failed to reach a Super Bowl before Josh Allen's 30th birthday, which will come this May, and they have consistently fallen short in the postseason in close games far too often. This has to be the final straw, and it's time for the Bills to move on from general manager Brandon Beane.

Now, I'm sure many are saying out loud that Sean McDermott should be fired, as well. And while you would have an argument there, it feels very unlikely that Buffalo would move on from both Beane and McDermott. If you had to pick one to absolutely get rid of, though, it's Beane. His roster management has been nothing short of terrible, and he failed to put any competent receivers on the roster after trading Stefon Diggs in 2024. The reason why Brandin Cooks was getting so many targets is because Beane didn't find a way to acquire Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins, even though it was reported that the Bills could have had the star wideout if they had given the Dolphins their 2026 first-round pick.

Not only did he fail to get Waddle, but he also saw the likes of Jakobi Meyers and Rashid Shaheed go elsewhere and prove to be vital pieces of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks, respectively. In totality, these are the receivers that Beane has signed, drafted, or traded for since trading Diggs:

  • Mack Hollins
  • Curtis Samuel
  • Keon Coleman
  • Kaden Prather
  • Chase Claypool
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling
  • Amari Cooper
  • Joshua Palmer
  • Elijah Moore
  • Gabe Davis
  • Mecole Hardman
  • Brandin Cooks

McDermott can only make do with what he has. And while he certainly has his faults, Beane deserves far more of the blame than the Bills' head coach. Beane brought back Bills' retread Dane Jackson this season, who was called up from the practice squad for this game. He came in for Tre'Davious White on the Broncos' final drive of regulation and immediately gave up the go-ahead touchdown pass to Marvin Mims.

Darnell Savage was another secondary player signed by Beane. He came into the game for an injured Cam Lewis and gave up the long touchdown to Lil Jordan Humphrey at the end of the first half. Beane bears the brunt of the issues with the Bills, and his poor roster construction cost Buffalo a better shot at defeating the Broncos.

Something has to change. Because how much longer is Josh Allen going to play at this level? How many more shorthanded rosters are going to be put together that set Buffalo up for failure? Owner Terry Pegula needs to be willing to make a change, because nothing will change if nothing will change.
