There are some human beings who are just supremely talented at everything they do.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Shaq Thompson fits that bill.
ESPN released a story on Monday trying to identify one player on every NFL team who could be that team's version of Travis Hunter. Thompson was the selection for the Bills.
He actually could even outdo Hunter in a way, because in an alternate universe, Thompson could be playing professional baseball.
Let's stick on the gridiron first.
Thompson went to the University of Washington. There, he played both linebacker and running back.
He earned the Paul Hornung Award, which is given to the country's most versatile player.

And then you add in the baseball.
In 2012, the Boston Red Sox drafted Thompson. He was a centerfielder, and he did play minor league baseball for a short time.
Thompson ended up choosing football, and it has worked out nicely for him. Most of his NFL work came in Carolina, where he was a standout linebacker for the Panthers.
He only came to Buffalo this offseason, although he's getting the chance to play for Sean McDermott, who he first became familiar with in Carolina.
Thompson is a veteran now, highly unlikely to ever actually undertake any kind of multi-pursuit plan.
But it's a fun universe to think about, one where a guy with all the abilities Thompson has would've gotten the chance to do it all.
