The relationship between an offensive coordinator and quarterback has to be one that is unbreakable, and for Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen and Joe Brady, the pair have been a good mix since Joe took the lead role.

But the duo is currently trying to navigate stormy seas, with the offense not playing to the standard we have come to expect, and Josh looking visibly annoyed and upset on the sidelines as his team was dismantled 30-13 by the Miami Dolphins.

When things aren't going well, it can be a tough thing to call out an MVP of the league and a player who is seen as one of the NFL's best, but Brady, in talking about his relationship with No. 17, peeled back the curtain on what really goes on between the two.

“We speak in truth and honesty, we both hold each other to the same accountability,” Brady said. “The way that he felt is how I felt, not necessarily for his play, but when things don't go well as an offense, when we have success, it's about them, and when we don't, it's about me, and I can live with that. That's the responsibility as an offensive coordinator.

"They can tell when people are BSing with them or not speaking the truth. We have the greatest player, he has the highest standard of himself. I never want to see him in that mood after a game.”

Brady and Allen facing test of relationship

You could make the case that this is the first true test of adversity that Brady and Allen have had since Joe took the offensive coordinator role midway through the 2023 season.

The receivers can't get open, the offensive line struggles at times to protect Allen, and Josh's turnovers have begun to enter the chat, too.

The offense was held scoreless for the first three quarters against Miami, which isn't acceptable for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. So, there is a lot to fix, and a lot of hard conversations Brady and Allen are having right now to try and turn this ship around.

Truth and honesty are powering the offensive duo, and right now, their relationship is perhaps undergoing the ultimate "trust" test.
