The Buffalo Bills maintained their undefeated start to the season, defeating the New Orleans Saints 31-19 at Highmark Stadium in what was a rather straightforward performance.

Josh Allen did what he needed to do, going 16 of 22 for 209 yards, two touchdowns, and his first interception of the season. On the ground, James Cook was superb, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown from his 22 carries.

Elsewhere, Khalil Shakir (69 yards, one touchdown) and Keon Coleman (45 yards) were the best of the receivers as the offense continued to roll and posted its fourth straight game of 30+ points.

So, it is easy to suggest Buffalo is firing on all cylinders, right? Well, Cook has a message that might send shudders down the spine of the rest of the NFL.

“Just got great players on offense,” Cook said. “We still can improve, and work on a lot more things, but it's still early in the season, and those things can be fixed.”

James Cook justifying new contract

All offseason, many were skeptical of whether or not Buffalo should stump up the money for a new contract for Cook, but general manager Brandon Beane did, to the tune of a four-year, $48 million deal, and through four weeks of the new season, it is looking justified.

Cook has rushed for 100+ yards in three of his four games, now has five rushing touchdowns, and 401 yards. So, we think that James is now feeling vindicated in his desire to be paid like a top running back.

The Bills' offense with Cook in this form is a devastating unit, and it is proving tough to stop. Despite Buffalo not being at their swashbuckling best, it still scored 31 points, with Cook a big reason why.

Three straight games of 100 rush yards and a touchdown in each game, yeah, James is cooking to start 2025.
