The Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers were all in the same boat.
They all took care of their own business on Sunday in Week 16. With a win by each of those teams, they were only one result away from clinching a playoff spot with two weeks to spare.
The result they all needed was the same: a Colts loss to the 49ers on Monday Night Football.
Philip Rivers played valiantly for Indianapolis.
But on the other side, Brock Purdy threw five touchdowns and led the 49ers past an overmatched Colts defense to a blowout win.
That did it.
The Bills have clinched a playoff spot.
The Jaguars have clinched a playoff spot.
The Chargers have clinched a playoff spot.

There are only two spots in the AFC not already assured, with the Broncos and Patriots having already clinched.
The Steelers remain in the driver's seat in the AFC North, but technically could get passed by the Ravens.
And the final wild card will come down to the Texans, who are in control, and the Colts, who would need a miracle.
It's a good night in Buffalo, Jacksonville and L.A.
