The Buffalo Bills have had a contract battle with running back James Cook throughout the entire offseason. Buffalo paid the likes of Khalil Shakir, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, and Christian Benford. Quarterback Josh Allen also received a new contract, which included an NFL record for guaranteed money.
The team, however, still has not reached an agreement with Cook. The Pro Bowl running back didn't miss a practice through mandatory mini-camp and through the first week and a half of training camp. However, he finally started to hold in at camp, sitting out of practice seemingly until a deal gets done. Speaking to the media on Thursday, though, Sean McDermott seemed to hint that this could all be ending,
McDermott says he expects Cook to practice on Thursday, per Josh Reed of WIVB in Buffalo. If Cook does practice, that would seem to indicate that a new deal is very close to being done.
Cook is coming off a year in which he led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns, and it's incredibly important that the Bills lock him down for the long term.
