Bills coach reveals honest thoughts on impressive James Cook award image

The 2025 season for the Buffalo Bills has been up and down, but for running back James Cook, there have been far more ups than downs.

Coming into the season wanting a new contract, James got it and then took the league by storm, winning the rushing title.

A total of 1,621 yards and 12 touchdowns sees Cook be crowned the NFL's rushing champion for 2025 as he tormented defenses week after week.

Plus, it is further evidence that James was fully deserving of his contract extension in the offseason.

And for his offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, he couldn't hide his excitement for James.

"I couldn't be happier for him,” Brady said. “All he's done is just showed up to work and absolutely put on an incredible performance this year. Not often do guys get paid and then take their game up to another level.

"Jimbo winning the rushing title, it takes all the guys up front that are doing it, the receivers blocking, all of that, and to really do it in one less game, I think was really impressive and I couldn't be happier for him.”

Cook produces superb 2025 season

We thought Cook's 2024 season was great, but he improved on it in 2025.

He had a career-high in rushing yards and attempts (309), and yes, he had four fewer touchdowns, but Cook was just as lethal as ever.

Getting paid and then producing what he did, Cook established himself as one of the premier running backs in football.

Josh Allen joked weeks ago that Cook is underpaid, and you could make that case after his 2025 efforts.

Yes, the Bills have Allen, but Cook is a star who plays a big role in making this offense go.
