Why John Harbaugh's Ravens future could be in shaky ground according to analyst image

The Baltimore Ravens have been a fascinating story this season, both on and off the field.

The performances on it haven't been good, and the off-field, shall we say, inconsistencies with Lamar Jackson and his health and practice status, as he earned a "rest" day from practice on Wednesday, according to head coach John Harbaugh, are a little odd.

After a poor game agaisnt the Pittsburgh Steelers, to then not have a full week of practice, according to FS1's Nick Wright, is "actually stunning."

And Wright went a step further with his thoughts on the Ravens era of Lamar and Harbaugh potentially being on shaky ground being over.

“I have no evidence of this, it’s just what I believe, and I think I have a lot of circumstantial evidence, I think Lamar’s ready for a reset,” Wright said. “Not for him, not that he wants to go somewhere, I think Lamar has given a bunch of signals this year, and he very well might be right, that yeah, I think this iteration of the Ravens has run its course.”

Could Ravens move on from Harbaugh?

You could certainly make that case.

Since the 2012 Super Bowl win, the Ravens have been to the playoffs seven times, five with Lamar, and have only reached the AFC Championship game once.

And considering how this season has gone, both on and off the field, a change might be needed, but we know the Ravens don't make sweeping changes for the sake of it, so John might be sticking around beyond 2025.

But there's no denying there have been some odd things that have happened for the Ravens this year, and if they do miss the playoffs, then many think a serious conversation needs to be had about the direction of the team.
