The NFL world has spent the last 24 hours reacting to the Baltimore Ravens shockingly deciding to fire long-time head coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens finished the year 8-9 after dropping their final game of the season to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a result in which crowned the Steelers AFC North champions for the first time since 2020.

Harbaugh's long-time rival and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin joined The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday, and was asked to give his thoughts on the Ravens moving on from Harbaugh.

"In terms of him being let go; Unfortunately I just think it's a component of today's sport culture," Tomlin said. "And so there have been many examples of that, and so it's unfortunate. But I'm sure that he is gonna move on. And if he chooses to coach again - I'm sure he will - and I'm sure he'll be very successful in doing so. But more than anything, I think it's just an example of today's sport culture in terms of not a lot of patience and the entertainment component of what it is that we do. There's just not a lot of longevity"

Tomlin and Harbaugh have faced off 44 times, the second-most head-to-head matchups between head coaches in NFL history behind George Halas and Curly Lambeau.

The Ravens have been one of the more consistently-great teams in the regular season since 2018, ranking third in the NFL in wins in that span. However, their playoff success, or lack thereof, has been equally as notable. They are 3-6 in the playoffs since 2018, which certainly played a part in Harbaugh's firing.
