Running backs have a short shelf life in the NFL, and for players who are bell cows, that is even more so, yet Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry continues to buck that trend.

Normally, we see production start to decline once players reach their late 20s, but in Henry's case, he's still the All-Pro we've known for years.

In 2025, despite the Ravens' struggles, Henry still posted 1,595 yards and 16 touchdowns at the ripe age of 31. That's ridiculous.

And for Maurice Jones-Drew, in his top 64 starting running backs piece for NFL.com, Henry came in at No. 6.

“Other than some early-season fumbling issues, Henry had one hell of a season at 31 years old,” Jones-Drew wrote. “The ageless wonder continued to trounce defenses and finished the season with an absolute bang, rushing for 570 yards and six touchdowns on 85 carries over the final four games.

"That's 6.7 per clip. Normally, the football world starts to wonder when 31-year-old running backs will consider hanging 'em up. Henry feels far from it.”

Henry proving you can beat father time...for now

Most 31-year-old running backs just want to be productive for their teams.

But in Henry's case, he's dominating.

In his last seven NFL seasons, Henry has surpassed 1,500 rushing yards five times and has had 16 rushing TDs four times. Let that sink in.

Plus, he's played every regular-season game in the last three years. That speaks to his longevity in the game.

Some thought Henry was declining when he joined Baltimore in 2024 after a 1,167-yard, 12-TD season in 2023, but he's shown that, at least right now, Father Time is going to have to wait.
