The Baltimore Ravens still haven’t locked down a contract extension with Lamar Jackson, but the star quarterback isn’t losing any sleep over it. With Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills just days away, Jackson made it clear he’s not letting money talk distract him from football.

Jackson’s stance on extension rumors

This offseason, Jackson’s future has been one of the hottest topics in Baltimore. His 2026 cap hit of $74.5 million looms large, and Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta recently confirmed that contract discussions remain ongoing. Still, Jackson isn’t pressing for immediate answers.

“The season’s here, I’m not worried about that,” Jackson told reporters Wednesday. “You were better off asking me that during camp. I’m locked in, I’m ready for the season to start. That time will come.”

Why Jackson isn’t sweating it

The 2019 MVP has every reason to be confident. Since entering the league, Jackson has redefined Baltimore’s offense and consistently kept the team in contention. He knows whenever talks resume, his next deal will likely reset the quarterback market—especially with Josh Allen and other stars already signing fresh extensions.

For now, his eyes are on Sunday night’s trip to Buffalo. Facing Allen and the Bills, Jackson gets an early test in what could be a statement game for both AFC contenders.

Where Jackson could rank in next QB payday

Quarterback salaries have exploded in recent seasons, and Jackson’s next contract will almost certainly join the top tier. Patrick Mahomes restructured his deal to secure more guaranteed money, Josh Allen just signed a fresh extension, and Joe Burrow reset the market with over $55 million per year.

Jackson, entering his prime and still one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers, is in position to surpass all of them if Baltimore wants to avoid another long standoff. With his cap hit already putting pressure on the front office, the Ravens may have little choice but to strike a deal that pushes him to the top of the salary ladder.

Until then, Jackson insists he’s keeping the focus on wins, not dollars. But once the season is underway, every throw and every win will only strengthen his case to become the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback.
