John Harbaugh has been contacted by 7 teams since Ravens firing; only 6 NFL teams have openings image

The Baltimore Ravens sent the NFL's head-coaching race into high alert on Tuesday night when they parted ways with John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh became a desirable hire for everyone who has dismissed their head coach, and probably for some other teams, too.

And then the reports came out that Harbaugh has been contacted by seven NFL teams. Only six currently have openings, not including the Ravens.

That means a team without an opening is already checking in on Harbaugh. And if not all the teams with openings have contacted him, there could be more.

The six teams with openings already, not including the Ravens, are the:

  • Giants
  • Browns
  • Cardinals
  • Falcons
  • Titans
  • Raiders

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio speculated on what teams may want Harbaugh that already have a coach, and his list included the Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Steelers, Bengals, Colts, Cowboys, Commanders, Packers and Buccaneers.

He couches a lot of those by saying they might be more about the future than right now, or that they're incredibly unlikely. But that's a long list.

If Harbaugh doesn't move quickly into a new job, you'd start to wonder whether it's a team in the playoffs that might want him.

And the longer he waits, the more fascinating the whole picture gets.
