ESPN insider reveals how long Lamar Jackson will stay with Ravens amid contract changes image

The Baltimore Ravens essentially chose their side when they parted ways with John Harbaugh.

This is Lamar Jackson's team.

For how long will that be true? Well, in an offseason when Jackson will likely get a renegotiated contract to drop his huge cap hit for the 2026 season, that's an important question.

"Baltimore is looking for a new deal to reduce Jackson's $74.5 million salary cap figure in 2026 before free agency in March, and it'll probably take making him the league's highest paid player at over $60 million per season to do so," ESPN's Jamison Hensley wrote on Monday.

Hensley went on to explain what this could mean for Jackson's longevity in Baltimore.

"A new deal would probably keep Jackson with the Ravens for at least another three seasons," Hensley writes.

That would be a reasonable length of time for Jackson and a new head coach to find some chemistry and try to chase a Super Bowl appearance that has so far eluded Jackson.

He's obviously a superstar, having twice won the MVP. But the playoffs haven't been his best friend.

And this season was a rough one, missing the postseason altogether after entering the year as Super Bowl favorites but enduring multiple injuries.

Despite the tough campaign, the Ravens made it clear Jackson is their guy. Now it'll be up to him to make the most of the future.
