John Harbaugh has found a new NFL home, as he officially agreed on a five-year, $100 million deal to become the head coach of the New York Giants.

"I'm excited to begin assembling our staff and getting to work building our team,” Harbaugh said in a statement after being hired by New York. “I would like to sincerely thank Steve Bisciotti and the Baltimore Ravens organization for 18 remarkable years, including the opportunity to become a head coach in the National Football League.”

Ravens predicted to hire Jesse Minter as next head coach

Harbaugh has moved on, and now the Ravens need to do the same as they need to identify a replacement for their now-former head coach. Perhaps they could call on a familiar face to fill the role.

Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut predicts that the Ravens will hire Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter for the gig.

Minter previously served as a defensive assistant and defensive backs coach in Baltimore under Harbaugh from 2017 to 2020. Since leaving Baltimore, he's served as a defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt, Michigan and with the Chargers.

If hired, Minter would bring an experienced defensive mind back to Baltimore. However, it is fair to wonder if the organization would want to bring in one of Harbaugh’s former disciples to replace him. They might want to go in a different direction entirely.

The Ravens will also face some stiff competition for Minter if they want to hire him. He's already had several interviews for the head coaching position with other teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins. He also interview with the Atlanta Falcons, but Atlanta has since hired Kevin Stefanski to be their next head coach.
