Heading into Week 15 of the NFL season, most fantasy football leagues are already in the playoffs at this point. That means the season is effectively over for many players, but for those who qualified for postseason play, things are just getting good.
There is probably a plethora of players out there who were holding out hope that Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Drake London would be able to return to action to provide their team with a big playoff boost. Some players probably hoped that he could be a secret weapon of sorts.
Drake London should remain on fantasy football benches in Week 15
Unfortunately, that won’t be the case. Not this week at least. After failing to practice all week, London has been officially ruled out of Atlanta’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. That means London should remain on fantasy football benches, where he's been for the past few weeks.
London has missed Atlanta’s last three games due to a PCL sprain in his knee, and his stay on the sideline will extend another week, at least. On the season, London has appeared in nine games for Atlanta and he’s caught 60 balls for 810 yards and six touchdowns.
Atlanta will have a mini-bye after playing on Thursday night as they don’t play again until the following Sunday against the Cardinals in Arizona. Perhaps the added time off will afford London an opportunity to return against Arizona, if the Falcons even want to bring him back at all at this point in the season.
The Falcons have already been eliminated from postseason contention, so it’s fair to wonder if it’s even worth it for them to bring back London at this late stage of the season. Perhaps they’d be better served letting him rest for the remainder of the season and bringing him back fully healthy at the start of next season. When it comes to a knee injury, it seems like they should probably err on the side of caution.
