Falcons predicted to hire award-winning coach after losing out on John Harbaugh image

The Atlanta Falcons were one of many teams interested in former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, but he is no longer an option.

On Wednesday night, reports surfaced that Harbaugh, whose first head coach interview was with the Falcons, is finalizing a deal with the Giants.

That means Atlanta will have to pivot to its next top choice.

When it's all said and done, AllSportsPeople' Vinnie Iyer predicts the Falcons will come away with former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.

"The Browns may have been hasty in firing Stefanski given some of the roster limitations he had offensively in trying to complement Myles Garrett and the top defense. Atlanta should recognize this and see him as a good offensive-minded counter to Raheem Morris to be attached to Michael Penix Jr. And his young weapons," Iyer wrote.

The Falcons have already interviewed Stefanski, so there is clear mutual interest there, which makes the two sides joining forces a real possibility.

A two-time Coach of the Year winner, Stefanski had a fair amount of success with the Browns before things went off the rails in his final two years.

However, that was hardly Stefanski's fault, as the Browns had a messy quarterback situation in both seasons, and a poor roster overall.

Stefanski remains one of the more respected offensive minds in the league and that's why he is believed to be highly coveted in the head-coach market.

The Falcons job should be attractive for Stefanski, who would be a great fit for the job.

Atlanta's offense has a strong foundation with Bijan Robinson and Drake London, and a potential franchise quarterback in Michael Penix Jr. And, after going 8-9 in 2025, the Falcons are ready to win now, so a full rebuild won't be necessary.

The Falcons have a lot of competition for Stefanski, no doubt, but with Atlanta having one of the better situations for a coach to step into, we'd consider them among the favorites to land the former Browns head coach.
