The Atlanta Falcons are one of seven NFL teams in the hunt for a new head coach.

The team fired Raheem Morris after the coach went 16-18 with no playoff appearances in two seasons. The Falcons have not made the playoffs since 2017, and only the New York Jets are in a longer current drought.

As a result, the team really needs to ace this next hire. Luckily, an elite head coach just became available, and it's already rumored the Falcons have interest.

The Baltimore Ravens fired John Harbaugh after the team lost in Week 18 and missed out on the playoffs. SNY's Connor Hughes reported that the Falcons are "increasingly interested" in Harbaugh, so it's a situation to monitor.

PFSN's Trevor Ritchie recently identified the best landing spots for Harbaugh, and the Falcons made the cut.

Regarding Harbaugh and the Falcons, Ritchie offered the following:

Atlanta has won eight games in back-to-back seasons and closed its 2025 campaign on a four-game winning streak, with pieces in place like Bijan RobinsonDrake LondonA.J. Terrell, and others that make it an attractive opening in a weak, winnable NFC South. On the downside, difficult decisions loom regarding Kirk Cousins’ future and whether Michael Penix Jr., returning from an ACL tear, is truly the long-term answer at quarterback.

The Falcons are set to go without a first-round pick in the 2026 draft, too. But in a division where competence alone can be enough to contend, that uncertainty is precisely where Harbaugh’s experience could matter most, as few candidates are believed to be any better equipped to stabilize a franchise and maximize roster talent.

As Ritchie mentioned, the Falcons could interest Harbaugh due to the number of playmakers already on the roster. The quarterback position is a concern, but there is plenty of talent elsewhere.

The Falcons don't have a first-round pick in 2026, which is less than ideal, but they do have the benefit of playing in the NFC South, which is usually the worst division in football. Adding a Super Bowl-winning coach like Harbaugh could bring much-needed stability to the team and ensure annual contention.

Harbaugh has compiled a 180-113 record in his career with one Super Bowl victory. The Ravens had made the playoffs in three consecutive seasons before missing out in 2025.
