TL;DR
- RB Trey Benson returned to practice but is unavailable for Week 12 against Jaguars.
- Emari Demercado is injured with an ankle issue and also sidelined for Week 12.
- Bam Knight is healthy after ankle issues and expected to get significant carries.
- Michael Carter will back up Bam Knight in the Cardinals' backfield.
The Arizona Cardinals seemed to get some good news this week.
Talented RB Trey Benson was back on the practice field after an extended absence.
However, the positive news didn't persist. Benson was declared unavailable for Sunday's Week 12 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.
Benson, returning from a knee issue, was restricted in all three practice days before Week 12. He never progressed to full activity, and the Cardinals likely determined he wasn't fully prepared.
The Arizona Cardinals' running back depth is further depleted by Emari Demercado's injury. He's dealing with an ankle issue, missed all of this week's practices, and has been officially sidelined.
Bam Knight received positive news as he participated in a full practice on Friday, following two restricted days earlier in the week, and is now free of any injury designation after contending with his own ankle problem.
Knight should see ample work on Sunday.
His backup will be Michael Carter.
It wouldn't be surprising if Jacoby Brissett passed for a lot of yards again this week. Last week, Brissett achieved an NFL single-game record by completing 47 passes.
But when the ball gets handed off on Sunday, it'll most likely be to Knight.
