Cardinals deliver surprising Marvin Harrison Jr. injury update for Week 11 image

The Arizona Cardinals will be without No. 1 wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. In Week 11.

According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed that Harrison Jr. Had surgery after coming down with appendicitis and he will not play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

"Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Had surgery for appendicitis and will not play against the 49ers this week, head coach Jonathan Gannon says," Jones reported.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that it's possible Harrison Jr. Will miss more than one week.

"Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Recently underwent surgery for appendicitis and is out this week with the potential for additional weeks," Rapoport wrote.

This is surprising, to say the least.

Harrison Jr. Played in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks, so there was no indication he was dealing with anything, both before and after the game.

Nevertheless, Harrison Jr. Will now miss his first game of the 2025 campaign. It remains unclear if he'll be able to make it back by Week 12.

With Harrison Jr. Sidelined, and with Zay Jones expected to miss the rest of the season, Michael Wilson figures to be the biggest beneficiary in terms of an increased role and more targets.

Greg Dortch is also in line to get more opportunities. Tight end Trey McBride is already heavily involved in the offense, but he might get even more run now.
