Steve Sarkisian expects key piece of Texas' offense ready for Ohio State image

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the status of starting left tackle Trevor Goosby on Monday. He offered clarity ahead of the top-ranked Longhorns’ showdown with No. 3 Ohio State.

Sarkisian left little doubt regarding Goosby’s availability. The star offensive lineman exited Texas’ second scrimmage with an undisclosed injury, but told reporters he expects him to start. That is welcome news for the Longhorns, who face one of the most talented defensive fronts in the country.

Goosby has quietly become an anchor for Texas’ offensive line. The 6-foot-7, 310-pound tackle has demonstrated outstanding athleticism, and technical growth during his time in Austin.

A former four-star prospect ranked No. 34 nationally among tackles in the 2023 class, Goosby is an interchangeable part of Texas' offensive line. Pro Football Focus graded  him with an 80.8 in pass-blocking last season, a mark that exceeded the grade of veteran starter Cameron Williams.

According to Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List,” Goosby clocked a flying 10-yard sprint at 1.44 seconds and reached a top speed of 20 mph—remarkable figures for an offensive lineman. He also bench pressed 365 pounds, posted the best vertical among Texas linemen, and even displayed his body control with a 360-degree dunk.

Outside of Goosby, Sarkisian was more cautious in discussing the status of Stanford transfer receiver Emmett Mosley, who has been “limited" in practice.

Texas heads to Columbus for a meeting with Ohio State on Saturday (Noon ET on FOX).
