Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Jordan Shipley is in critical but stable condition following severe burns from an accident at his ranch in Texas, per ESPN.
Shipley's family released a statement through the Texas athletic department on Tuesday detailing that the former receiver had been operating a machine on his ranch when it caught fire, causing "severe burns on his body" before being hospitalized.
Shipley, 40, spent six years with the Longhorns before a few years in the NFL and his 2014 retirement from football.

On Tuesday, Jordan Shipley's family released a statement to Texas associate athletic director John Bianco that shared the former wide receiver had been involved in an accident on his ranch.
"Jordan was involved in an accident this afternoon near his hometown of Burnet. The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire, and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body in the process," the statement said. "He was able to get to one of his workers on the ranch who drove him to a local hospital. He was then care-flighted to Austin, where he remains in critical but stable condition."

When did Jordan Shipley play at Texas?
Jordan Shipley played at Texas from 2004-09, but his first two seasons were redshirts. In 2006, he had his first action for the Longhorns. Shipley was both a receiver and kick returner.
A two-time All-American, Shipley still holds some single-season receiving records at Texas, including yards (1,489 in 2009) and receptions (116 in 2009). He's the Longhorns' all-time leader in receptions (248) and trails only Roy Williams with his 3,191 career receiving yards.
Shipley was then selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He posted 600 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season for the Bengals, but after a torn ACL and MCL in 2011, he was waived by the team in August 2012.
Shipley had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars before retiring from football in February 2014.
