The Lombardi Award announced its four finalists for the 2025 honor on Wednesday, revealing a quartet of standout linemen and linebackers who have shaped the season with elite production and on-field leadership. Texas Tech’s David Bailey and Jacob Rodriguez, Texas A&M’s Cashius Howell, and Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor have emerged from a preseason watchlist of more than 50 players to headline the race for one of college football’s most respected awards.

Bailey has been one of the most disruptive defensive players in the country, leading the FBS with 12.5 sacks and 71 quarterback pressures while powering a Texas Tech defense that has overwhelmed opponents with its edge production. Rodriguez anchors the middle for the Red Raiders and leads all FBS defenders with seven forced fumbles. Together, they give Texas Tech two of the nation’s most impactful defenders.

Howell has fueled Texas A&M’s front with 11.5 sacks, becoming the first Aggie to earn four SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week honors. His disruptive consistency off the edge has produced the program’s most prolific single-season sack total since Myles Garrett.

Alabama’s Proctor, has provided steady dominance at left tackle, earning Outland Trophy Player of the Week and SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week recognition while anchoring one of the SEC’s most physical offensive lines.

The Lombardi Award was established in 1970 to honor the legacy of legendary coach Vince Lombardi. Its charitable efforts, spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Houston, have raised millions of dollars for cancer research. The award recognizes the nation’s top linemen and linebackers who embody Lombardi’s principles of toughness, integrity, and perseverance.
