Texas A&M’s quiet rise in now churning toward a Playoff run image

After an 8-5 season in 2024, the Texas A&M Aggies have slowly crept up the ranking and are now in position to be in its first College Football Playoff.

The third-ranked team in the nation led by sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed is hitting all cylinders and are a legit threat. At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, the explosive passer commands the Aggies offense in a way that resembles that of a former QB who played across the state over a decade ago. Robert Griffin III and Reed are awfully similar. This weekend was more proof toward that argument.

Reed led the Aggies to the largest comeback victory in SEC and school history against the South Carolina Gamecocks last Saturday. He threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns, while poetically commanded the offense by distributing the ball to his top receiver KC Concepcion for 7 catches and 158 yards. Needless to say, he made the right decision in the clutch.

The 10-0 Aggies secured multiple wins on the road vs. Top college football programs like
Notre Dame and LSU. Playing in these environments is not for the weak, and shows
exactly how resilient this team is under the leadership of head coach Mike Elko. With
one final regular season test Nov. 28th in Austin against their in-state rival Texas Longhorns,
expect Reed and the Aggies to bring their passing game and speed to the rodeo showdown.

With hopes of dominating the Horns on the road, the Aggies are also eyeing the SEC
championship game. Don't be surprised when the Aggies will be present in Atlanta on December 6th. If you don't believe it, just watch because they are now a force to be reckoned with.
