Robert Griffin III says one SEC quarterback had a Heisman moment in Week 12 image

Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III didn’t hesitate to say Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed delivered the defining moment of his season on Saturday.

The Aggies were down but not out against South Carolina thanks Reed leading a stunning 31-30 comeback win. For anyone watching the game, it appeared A&M was on the way to their first loss being down 30-3 at halftime. However, the second half told a different story.

“Marcel Reed just had his Heisman moment,” Griffin said in a social media post, praising signal-caller for engineering the largest comeback in SEC history.

The Aggies (10-0) showed signs of life Reed leading a furious rally, finishing with 439 passing yards and three touchdowns. He showed it's not how you start, but how you finish.

Reed’s day began with two interceptions and a fumble returned for a touchdown. That was just the start. He responded with an instant classic string of highlights. Texas A&M’s defense delivered a second-half shutout, sealing the win with sacks from Dalton Brooks and Cashius Howell on LaNorris Sellers after a late Aggies fumble gave South Carolina one final chance.

“A lot of that emotion was just pride,” coach Mike Elko said. “There’s not a lot of teams with a culture that keeps going like that.”

The victory kept Texas A&M’s SEC title and College Football Playoff hopes intact. Will it also boost Reed's Heisman stock? We'll see how the conversation turns.
