As Week 3 of the college football season is on the horizon, a few matchups could hold more weight on the national scene. None more than sixth-ranked Georgia heading to Knoxville to face No. 15 Tennessee.
On this week's episode of CBS Sports' "Inside College Football," Rick Neuheisel threw out two major upsets. The former coach turned analyst believes the Bulldogs will fall to the Vols in the early marquee SEC showdown.
“After watching the first couple of weeks, I’m still concerned about Georgia," Neuheisel said. "When I watched Tennessee’s highlights, their defense looked more like a Georgia defense than Georgia’s has so far. Maybe I’m wrong because I think Kirby Smart is as good as they come but I’m going with Tennessee.”
Tennessee hasn't defeated Georgia in nearly a decade, which makes this pick interesting. The Bulldogs are also a four-point favorite, according to oddsmakers.
Outside of the SEC brawl, Neuheisel believes Texas State will knock off Arizona State. The 14.5-point underdog faces the Sun Devils at the right time after a Mississippi State upset last Saturday. Another loss would be a tremendous blow to Kenny Dillingham's team as they're months removed from a College Football Playoff run.
The Tennessee-Georgia affair kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC before the way-too-late meeting between ASU and Texas State (10:30 p.m. ET/ TV:TNT).
