Jordan Hudson didn’t need to check the stat sheet to know what kind of night it was.

Seven receptions totaling 131 yards and one huge touchdown that sparked a 35-24 upset against Clemson.

“I’d say it means a lot,” Hudson said. “Coming from the little school, people not believing in us as much as we’d want them to, we just tuned all the outside noise out, really dug in within ourselves and our teammates, and believed in each other.”

Clemson entered with eight ACC titles in ten years. Hudson knew exactly what that represented. “All week we just tried to be the best version of us,” he said. “They’ve been the ACC leaders and they’ve won a lot of tournaments in the ACC. We’re trying to get on that level. So we just put our heads down all week and worked hard.”

Hudson got the scoring underway with a 70-yard touchdown. It was statement that his team wasn’t intimidated by the opposition and Death Valley environment.

“I felt like that was a routine play,” he said. “It was big, but it was a routine play. That’s what we’ve got to do, make routine plays. It just simplifies our offense and makes it easier for everybody. I’m glad Coach trusted me to go make that play.”

He and quarterback Kevin Jennings have been connected since high school. “That dude is super un-normal,” Hudson said. “I don’t get surprised anymore. Every throw is like a routine throw to him. I’m super confident in his decision-making. I just try to catch it.”

Hudson also pointed to the talent around him “The running-back room, man, it’s a lot of those guys that can go,” he said. “About five or six of them that can go, and about two of them that y’all ain’t even seen yet. They just stacked.”

Through it all, Hudson kept the message simple, it’s all about belief and trust. “We’ve got a long season ahead of us, five more games,” he said. “But that’s what we’re supposed to do. Make routine plays. Keep trusting each other. That’s what we’re building here.”
