New Penn State Nittany coach Matt Campbell hasn't been in State College long, but a few college football media pundits are beginning to take notice of the former Iowa State coach's commitment to a turnaround.
This includes Big Ten football analyst Yogi Roth, who covers the the league for Big Ten Network.
Roth said it's going to take a bit of time, but what is clear is that Campbell is happy to be there.
"The best part of it all was when somebody lands a job that they've looked at their entire careers, and it becomes reality," Roth told FOX 43. "To see it happen here in this regard with his family nearby, like you couldn't help but be like, yeah, I'm gonna root for this man every step of the way."
Roth called the decision by Penn State "incredible," trusting Campbell's previous experience in a league like the Big 12 is going to transition to. The Big Ten.
"After his press conference, then you start following all the things that he's doing within the facility or talk to people on the staff or those that might even be in limbo, though his regard for everyone in that building is just incredible," Roth said.
Campbell finished his Cyclones career 72-55, as his decision to leave was met with immense emotion.
Nonetheless, though, Campbell will have a chance to achieve at the highest level of the sport, even if it isn't right away.
Whether he does, only time will tell. But, to begin with, he has a whole off-season ahead of him to try and figure out the biggest missing pieces including the quarterback position.
