The Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes have two of the best wins in the country so far in 2025. The Buckeyes knocked off No. 9 Texas, who was No. 1 at the time, in Week 1 and the Ducks went into Happy Valley and beat No 7 Penn State, who was No. 3 at the time.
Now, Ohio State and Oregon are No 1 and No. 2 in the country, respectively.
Former Ohio State head coach, and current Fox broadcaster Urban Meyer recently named the Buckeyes and the Ducks as his two best teams in college football.
Urban Meyer Praises Oregon, Ohio State
Meyer joined The Triple Option podcast earlier this week and gave his thoughts on who the best teams in college football are.
"I think it’s going to be Oregon and Ohio State, they’re going to play twice," Meyer said. "They’re going to play in Indianapolis (in the Big Ten Championship), and they’re going to play in the College Football Playoff. I don’t see that team in the SEC yet. To me, Oregon and Ohio State look a little bit different than everyone else."
The College Football Hall of Fame coach has a point. Oregon and Ohio State have looked as good, if not better, than advertised through five games, and there hasn't been another team in the country that hasn't stumbled.

Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are the AP Top 10 SEC teams who've yet to lose, but there's a fair argument that none of them have looked as strong as Ohio State or Oregon so far.
Miami is the third team that's looked very strong through five weeks. The Hurricanes went to the wire with Notre Dame in Week 1, but the Fighting Irish have looked like a contending team the last two weeks.
After handling South Florida and Florida the last two weeks, Miami will get a big test this weekend at Florida State.

As for Oregon and Ohio State, the two powerhouses don't play each other in the regular season, but both schools still have a couple tests on their schedules.
The Buckeyes will face Penn State to start November and Michigan to finish the regular season, and the Ducks have a bye this week, but then face No. 8 Indiana.
There's still a lot of college football to be played, but Oregon and Ohio State are at the top of Meyer's board right now.
