Junior running back Jayden Limar has emerged as one of the Ducks’ most efficient playmakers. Despite limited touches, he is averaging 11.9 yards per carry, the fifth-best mark in the country. Limar has recorded 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns, ranking second in both categories.
In a rotation featuring seven backs, his production and reliability have quickly established him as a vital contributor to Oregon’s offensive depth.
Head coach Dan Lanning praised Limar on Monday for more than just his production with the ball. He pointed to the junior’s versatility and commitment across all phases of the game.
“We actually gave an award to Jayden earlier today talking about like this is, to me, the embodiment of what our team is,” Lanning said. “I think he played 15 snaps on special teams, 24 snaps on offense. One of his best plays of the day was a block that he had on an inside run play. We’re running down on kickoff, dynamic piece of our PBR team and our KOR unit, like, he's done a lot of things right.”
Limar, now one of the more experienced running backs on the roster outside of Noah Whittington, has stepped into a leadership role as well. He takes pride in building connections with teammates.
“I pride on myself on treating everyone the same and loving every single player that I'm out there with, whether you play or you don't, I'm going to talk to you. I try to talk to everyone on the team,” Limar said after the Ducks’ win over Oklahoma State.
In a rotation that includes seven backs, Limar has consistently been the second player to enter games, backing up Whittington.
