The No. 7 Oregon Ducks now have better national championship odds than SEC powerhouse the Alabama Crimson Tide as they prepare to host No. 15 USC Trojans.
This would typically be viewed as a motivational reminder. However, that's not the vibe in Eugene. This is a must-win game and the Ducks know it's them against the world.
Dan Lanning’s squad not only has home-field advantage, but also an extra preparation day before the showdown after defeating Minnesota.
"The challenge is always fun. This (USC) is certainly a team that is a challenge. They play really good football," Lanning said this week. "These moments are fun. Obviously, when 'College GameDay' is coming to come see you twice, there’s a reason. It speaks volumes about our fan base, it speaks volumes about our program and their program as well. When you get opportunities like that, that’s something you want to take advantage of.”
The matchup carries major implications for the College Football Playoff race; a win would strengthen Oregon’s resume heading toward the postseason.
The Ducks and Trojans battle at Autzen Stadium (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS).
