TL;DR
- Messiah Hampton scored touchdowns by reception and run in a state semifinal.
- Hampton's 77-yard touchdown run was a memorable highlight in the game.
- Monroe High School, led by Hampton, reached a state championship for the first time.
- Hampton will join the Oregon Ducks after his historic high school season concludes.
Messiah Hampton is the real deal.
The Oregon Ducks' wide receiver prospect from Monroe (NY) High School demonstrated this in a New York state semifinal contest on Saturday.
Hampton scored a touchdown via reception. He also achieved a touchdown through a run. Furthermore, he threw a pass, though it didn't result in a touchdown.
His touchdown run was the most memorable moment. He received a jet sweep, outran everyone to the edge, and sprinted away from Owego Free Academy.
It was a 77-yard score:

Hampton, a standout athlete for Monroe, a team with a storied past, has achieved a new record. No team from The Rochester City School District has ever reached a state championship game before. Hampton's Red Jackets are set to compete in Syracuse next weekend, marking this historic achievement.
After that, he'll make the cross-country trip to join the Ducks.
If he can make plays like this one in college, too, Oregon will be very happy to have Messiah.
