After four weeks of ineffective offense, the Cleveland Browns made a switch at the quarterback position, benching veteran Joe Flacco for rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Through four games, the 40-year-old veteran struggled, completing 58.1% of his passes for 815 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. Now, the former Oregon Duck will have the opportunity to lead the Browns' offense and prove he can be the long-term answer at quarterback that Cleveland is desperately looking for.
Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy spoke to the media today after practice in London, expressing confidence in his new triggerman as he prepares for his first career start.
Jerry Jeudy reveals thoughts on rookie Dillon Gabriel
"Dillon, he’s a smart dude," Jeudy told reporters. "He knows where to go with the ball. He knows what the coaching staff wants within the offense. He does a great job of that."
So far in 2025, the former Alabama wideout has 182 yards on 13 receptions. Solid, but not great for a receiver of his caliber. He figures to be relied on heavily by Gabriel as the Browns prepare for a tough defense in the Minnesota Vikings.
"I’m the biggest fan of Jerry. I would be surprised to find anyone that thinks more highly of him than me, just the way he works, the way he attacks his day to day, but how much he loves the game as well. He shows his passion, and he’s a guy that we’re going to rely on," Gabriel said about his No. 1 target.
"I’ll continue to rely on and a guy we’ll feed because he’s a big part of what we do."
Cleveland will look to keep their season afloat with a win over the Vikings on Sunday.
