Robert Griffin III has joined the masses pushing for Lane Kiffin to leave Oxford. However, he sees the Ole Miss coach's best next move back in the NFL.

Following the New York Giants’ firing of Brian Daboll on Monday, Griffin took to social media with a bold suggestion. “The New York Giants should hire Lane Kiffin,” the former Heisman Trophy winner and FOX Sports analyst tweeted.

Kiffin, 50, has become one of the hottest names in football once again. His Ole Miss Rebels are 9-1 and positioned for a potential SEC title game berth.

Since taking over in 2020, Kiffin has gone 53-19 and revitalized the program with one of the nation’s most explosive offenses led by former Division II QB Trinidad Chambliss.

Griffin’s suggestion makes some sense beyond the headline. Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, played three seasons for Kiffin in Oxford. He threw for over 10,000 yards with 85 total touchdowns while leading Ole Miss to back-to-back top-15 finishes.

Kiffin does have prior NFL experience as head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2007-08, which ended with a 5-15 record. But that felt like a lifetime ago considering how successful he has been at Ole Miss. His offensive creativity and track record of quarterback development will be strong factors for any team looking to pry him away.
