On Friday, Ole Miss secured another impressive victory for its 2025 season, defeating in-state rival Mississippi State by a score of 38-19 on the road.

The matchup brought about a series of enchanting storylines. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss balled out, producing nearly 400 yards of total offense less than 12 hours after reportedly having his jersey swiped by rowdy Bulldogs fans.

Lane Kiffin, the Ole Miss head coach, has consistently been one of college football's most engaging personalities. His reputation remained intact on Friday when he launched sharp criticisms at Mississippi State's entire athletic department following a second-quarter scuffle that escalated into a widespread fight. He also confronted an Ole Miss reporter after he chose to quote a well-known — and explicit — lyric from Ludacris to characterize the Kiffin Effect.

However, ultimately, everyone's attention — and hearing — was focused on Kiffin's postgame press conference. Given the widespread rumors about his potential departure, with LSU and Florida having already extended substantial financial offers to his representatives, many within the college football community are speculating if Kiffin will move on to another position in 2026.

Kiffin informed reporters that he has not yet reached a conclusion. He suggested that an announcement concerning his future was imminent, with Saturday being the probable day.

Kiffin provided few details regarding his decision-making. However, the Gators have been eliminated, as ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Florida is turning to new targets.

AllSportsPeople provided real-time updates and key moments from Lane Kiffin's post-game press conference after the Egg Bowl on Friday. Here's a summary of Kiffin's statements after the game concluded at Davis Wade Stadium on Friday afternoon.

"I've got a lot of praying to do to figure that out tomorrow," Kiffin said.

Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss future?

This section will be updated.

Kiffin's future at Ole Miss remains up in the air. While the Rebels have repeatedly done a lot to keep him in town, connections between Kiffin and schools like LSU and Florida have kicked into high gear recently.

Kiffin has declined to speak about his coaching future until Ole Miss' regular season is over.

Yahoo reported that LSU officials "have discussed a seven-year, incentive-laden deal worth at least $90 million" for Kiffin. That would put Kiffin among the highest-paid coaches in the country, but On3 reported that Florida and Ole Miss have matched the offer and are both bidding to land/keep the head coach.

Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter released a statement on Nov. 21 that said he had "pointed and positive" discussions with Kiffin about his future at Ole Miss. However, Carter also wrote that there would be no resolves to the situation until after Week 14 concluded.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that the Gators are shifting their focus to other options, with Kiffin believed to be choosing between staying with the Rebels and joining the Tigers’ coaching staff.

It remains unclear if Kiffin will depart Ole Miss just before a possible playoff berth. However, a resolution to the speculation is anticipated shortly.
