On an appearance Tuesday on the "Pat McAfee Show," Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin put to rest that the school had given him until the Egg Bowl, which is next week, to decide whether or not he plans to stay there.
“There has been no ultimatum, and that’s absolutely not true. We’re having a blast and I love it here," he said.
In fact, Kiffin said before he appeared on the show, he and Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter were doing yoga together.
Rumors started on Sunday that Kiffin and his family were seen touring Gainesville and taking a tour of Baton Rouge on Monday.
As most know, Kiffin is being pursued by both Florida and LSU, and while he denied that Ole Miss gave him an ultimatum, he did not deny visiting other schools. Kiffin's answer has always been that he is happy where he is, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't take a bigger position.
This is the first time the Rebels will make the College Football Playoff, something neither Florida nor LSU has done recently, which is why they are pursuing him.
This is the third year in a row that Kiffin has led this program to a 10-win season, and the first time since the 1960s the school will compete for a national championship in the sport.
But his non-answer about whether he plans to leave or stay may speak volumes about his future with the school. We may not know until the season is over what his decision will be, but for now, he is firmly with Ole Miss.
