Why Ohio State's Julian Sayin has lost ground in the Heisman race image

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Julian Saying has slid in the Heisman Trophy projections. However, he's viewed as the fourth-best option in On3's latest straw poll with 47 points.

Sayin's latest performance against Rutgers was standard for him, going 13-of-19 for 157 yards and two touchdowns in a blowout win. It was solid but unspectacular by Heisman standards, especially with his supporting case. What should give him a bump is being without Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith and still keeping high numbers.

Sayin has thrown for 2,832 yards and 27 touchdowns against just four interceptions this year. Many of his live-game “moments” haven’t been as dramatic as some rivals’, which might factor into how voters view his chances. It's one factor that shouldn't, but when Texas A&M's Marcel Reed is bringing his team back from a 28-point first half deficit against South Carolina or Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love has three scores on right carries vs. Syracuse, the differences are clear.

This will come down to 'The Game' for Sayin. If he shreds Michigan and then keeps it close against Indiana in the projected Big Ten championship matchup, His name will go back up to the top in the Heisman race.
