What time does Texas vs. Ohio State start? Why Week 1 matchup has a delayed kickoff image

If there’s one college football game to catch this weekend, it's No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State.

Arch Manning and the top-ranked Longhorns head to "The Horseshoe" to meet the favored Buckeyes. This comes after both teams met each other in the College Football Playoff less than eight months ago.

Outside of all the storylines, there was one noticeable difference with this top-five matchup. The kickoff time was adjusted to 12:14 p.m. ET.

What time does Texas vs. Ohio State start?

Despite having a 12:00 p.m. start time, Texas vs. Ohio State will kick off at 12:14 p.m. ET.

This decision was made to help ease operations beforehand. "Ohio State is allowing time for fans to get settled after Lee Corso's final headgear pick," a source with knowledge of the situation told Sporting News.

This is a win for both networks that will be airing Corso's pick live. ESPN is set up outside of Ohio Stadium with FOX's Big Noon Kickoff happening at the same time.

Not to say this is a big deal, but it really is. It will also allow for an additional commercial break or two. Who doesn't love advertisements?

As for the game itself, the post-noon kickoff has already sparked anger from fans who were hoping the game would be shifted to a prime time slot. Nonetheless, the non-conference matchup is expected to live up to the hype. It will feature two first-time starting quarterbacks with Manning, who started two games last season as a backup, and Julian Sayin, who takes over for Will Howard at Ohio State.

Texas vs. Ohio State will be broadcast nationally on FOX. Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt will call the game from the booth at Ohio Stadium, with Jenny Taft reporting from the sidelines.
