With a few weeks to go until the College Football Playoff gets underway, the Ohio State Buckeyes are already preparing for the future.

The Legend Bey saga is finally over, as the 2026 4-star dual threat athlete (running back/wide receiver) finally committed to Ohio State as part of the 2026 class.

But, how he got there is slightly complicated.

According to Bey himself, he had wanted to be a Buckeye all along but his parents wanted him to go to the University of Tennessee. He initially committed to Tennessee in December, but in a series of since-deleted tweets, things began to backfire.

Threats for his parents to delete his social media accounts put him in a precarious position, which he eventually got out of.

"Imma do my own thing," Bey wrote on Instagram.

Now, he's going to the team HE HAS always wanted to play for, and there's no questions asked.

"He was officially granted his release from Tennessee earlier this evening Bey is ranked as the No. 4 ATH in the 2026 Rivals300," Hayes Fawcett tweeted.

As one Buckeye fan put it, the program appears to be happy to have him.

"I know a lot of people may be tired of hearing about Legend Bey but as Buckeye Nation, it’s on us to make sure this kid feels fully welcomed. He’s far from home, and he’s carrying the weight of feeling like he “betrayed” his family," AZ Buckeye wrote.

The 2026 recruiting class is now officially set, as the Buckeyes' composite ranking sits at No. 6 in the nation according to 247Sports.

Now the focus can return to preparing for the postseason as the Buckeyes try to win consecutive national championships. But, at the very least, championship-type talent will be in Columbus very soon.
