The Ohio State Buckeyes had a chip-shot field goal to tie the Indiana Hoosiers late in the Big Ten title game.
Jayden Fielding, the OSU kicker, pulled it wide left.
It was a painful moment for Fielding, who had also missed on a key stage in the 2024 edition of The Game against Michigan.
A few shrewd Buckeyes fans were quick to point something out, though: Ohio State has another talented kicker on the roster.
Jackson Courville had transferred to Ohio State from Ball State, in the MAC, to try to make his own way as a Big Ten kicker.
For Ball State last year, Courville made 11-for-13 kicks, including a 52-yard game winner.

Fielding has been Ohio State's full-time kicker all year, though.
Here's a look at the Courville leg:

There's no guarantee Courville would do exactly this well on a bigger stage with the Buckeyes. And Ohio State's coaching staff obviously gets to see its kickers in practice and has a lot more information to base these decisions on.
But it's painful for the Buckeyes to have lost that No. 1 CFP seed on such an easy kick. And their fanbase certainly wonders what Courville could bring.
They may never find out, but if Fielding misses another key kick at some point, maybe Courville will get the call.
