To be clear, it's not a likely outcome.

But there's a chance that Ohio State and Michigan don't just play this week in The Game, but then right away again in a rematch in the Big Ten Championship game.

Would the Buckeyes or Wolverines even want that? It's tough to say.

But it could happen, so here's how:

  • Purdue beats Indiana.
  • Michigan beats Ohio State.
  • Washington beats Oregon.

That would leave Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan at 8-1 in the conference, and Oregon at 7-2.

Indiana and OSU wouldn't have a head-to-head.

The Buckeyes and Wolverines would be 2-0 against common opponents, as opposed to Indiana being 1-1.

That would take the Hoosiers out of the game and leave Ohio State and Michigan to play one another.

There's very little chance that Indiana loses to Purdue. It's also unlikely that Oregon loses to Washington.

And could Michigan really beat Ohio State for a fifth year in a row? It'd be quite the feat.

But man, if it happened, then they'd be running it back in a rematch.
