Notre Dame vs Navy Game Recap:
This game turned out to be a very one-sided battle if you only consult the box score. Stylistically it would be unfair to compare passing stats as Navy rarely the passes the ball in their offense. However, that would prove the be the difference in the score.
Both teams rushed for over 200 yards with Notre Dame getting the better of that matchup 249-206. Midshipman Braxton Woodson was extremely productive going over a hundred yards on the ground, 4.4 yards per carry with a touchdown. Navy simply had no tangible answer for rushing trio of Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price and Aneyas Williams who combined rushed for 213 yds and four touchdowns on nearly nine yards per carry.
The passing game of Notre Dame truly ended up being the difference in the game. Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr spread the ball around. The Irish only had one receiver over 50 yards receiving (Malachi Fields), but had five receivers with more than 25 yards.
Defensively this game was quite even. If there's an area where these teams seemed evenly matched it was from their respective defensive efforts. Both teams recorded similar tackles as well as passing defensive numbers. Notre Dame just got to the quarterback more often. Navy finished the game with 58 tackles and 2 tackles for loss, while Notre Dame finished with the same 58 tackles but they added five sacks and two tackles for loss.
As has almost always been the case, this again felt like one of the most honest and respectful lopsided game this year. Despite making late game substitutions when the game was out of reach, both sides continued to play hard til the final whistle. The way this game has historically always been played.
Despite the loss, Navy is by no means out of contention for the American conference, but the path might've gotten a little more complicated. Navy, Tulane, Memphis, South Florida, North Texas all have two losses overall. Navy and Memphis are the only teams with more than one loss in thae logjam at the top of the American conference.
Notre Dame is not in a conference and therefore will rely on this win keeping them in the primary race to secure one of the twelve college football playoff seeds to be determined by season's end. Notre Dame has recovered nicely from their two losses in the first two weeks of the season. With only one team in the AP top 25 losing today, the playoff picture might not remain more or less unchanged.

Navy vs Notre Dame Game Preview:
Today’s game marks the 98th meeting between these two programs. While historically, Notre Dame has been consistently the dominant team in the recurring matchup, this years game has real implications.
Notre Dame started the season by going 0-2 after a start that included losses to Miami and Texas A&M. The Fighting Irish have been able to climb out of that hole and currently sit as the No. 10 ranked team in the country. Conversely, Navy jumped out to a 7-0 start until falling to North Texas last week.
Navy is a Group of Five team from the American conference. While Navy sits atop those standings, they have college football playoff hopefuls right behind them. Tulane and Memphis are also garnering some interest. If Navy could pull the unthinkable upset, it could position them better with the playoff committee. If they could find a way to beat Notre Dame and win the American conference, not only should they get in, but they might also not be a 12-seed.
Rushing offense and rushing defense could tell the story of this game. While Notre Dame has arguably the best running back room in all of college football, Navy’s Blake Horvath has just shade under 30 more rushing yards on the season than Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love. However, Horvath is not expected to play today. While Navy ranks as the 40th best team vs the run, Notre Dame is ranked 12th in that same category.
The biggest question surrounding this game is can Navy slow down Love and Jadarian Price enough to keep this game close? If they can and are in this game late, the outcome could be significant towards playoff seeding. If Notre Dame takes care of business as their respective rankings would suggest, Notre Dame would be in a good position and the American conference could go down to the wire.
